Counselling, should I?

You are on your screen, looking at the Counselling sites, thinking.. should I? But...Do I really need it? What should I talk about? Is my problem big enough to seek a professional help?

Are you the above person? Well, my advice is.. follow your instinct (gut feeling). There is no such thing as big or small problem. The important part is that “the problem” is burdening/bothering you or sits with you most of the time (or even a lifetime).

Think of a counselling as a “Me Time” or “Short an hour Vacation” for you and you only. For you to really focus on yourself. To dig deeper, to find out whatever was there that you even didn’t know it existed. It’s unloading the luggage(s) you’ve been carrying for a long time or assist you with the traumatic or unwanted events that just happened to you (e.g. divorce, losing your loved one, unemployed, etc).

Counselling is a process, the process that is short or long depending on the individuals. Counselling assist you in going through life changes. It helps you process your thoughts. Guide you into more awareness about yourself and surroundings. Let you express your deepest emotions in a safe and nonjudgmental environment.

Most big transformations come about from the hundreds of tiny, almost imperceptible, steps we take along the way. (Lori Cottlieb)

Counsellours assist you in taking those hundreds of tiny steps and help you achieve your goal(s) with the right activities and techniques. You are the “Leading Role” and counsellours are the “Supporting Role”.

Let’s make sharing a habit and achieve a better mental health and awareness.
